Where children come first

Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

We are looking forward to sharing this year with you and learning about some amazing things.

PE will be on Thursdays - wear your PE kit into school. It will be outdoors as much as possible so please remember to wear something warm when the weather turns cooler.

Bring your reading book into school everyday - you never know when we might find a spare 5 minutes to read!

Try and read at home as often as your can, you can read to adults, younger siblings or just on your own. You can change your reading book as often as you'd like - when the books come back into school they will go into 'book quarantine' to ensure they are safe before going back onto the book shelf.

Your spellings new spellings will come home every Friday but if you're away or put them 'somewhere safe' they are also at the bottom of this page. You will have a spelling test each Friday on the words from the week before. Don't forget, you can use Spelling Shed to practice your spellings too.

Spellings

Don't forget to practise your spellings every week, you will have a spelling test every Friday.

Find the meanings of the words, put them into sentences.

You could practise them in a fun way - rainbow writing, write with your 'wrong hand', pyramid writing, chalk them on the pavement, make a word search with them or bubble writing. What other fun ways could you practise them?
