Croeso i flwyddyn 3!

Our teacher is Mrs Evans and our teaching assistant is Mrs Govier.

Our Topic this term is "World of Pure Imagination", please see the link below for more information about what we will be covering.

PE is on a Monday, please can children wear the school uniform PE Kit into school e.g. plain shorts/joggers and t-shirt. 

Forest School is on a Tuesday, children are welcome to bring in waterproofs and wellies to wear that day, if you do not have these items the school can provide them.

Water bottles need to be brought in everyday and children can bring in a healthy snack for break time.

We ask that book bags are brought in everyday so we can read with the children in class. They will be changed on a Friday. Please try to read with your child for at least 5 minutes everyday.

Autumn 2 - Express Yourself!

We began our topic by thinking about the various ways that we express ourselves and shared some of our talents with the class. We then looked at artists like Banksy and Keith Haring and learnt various artistic skills that we then used to express ourselves artistically. We then created an art gallery with what we created and invited our parents to come and see our creations as well as give them the opportunity to express themselves. We then looked at various forms of music and had a go at creating some ourselves. We also worked in groups to create scripts and then produced a drama piece working together to express ourselves. To complete our topic Year 3 then learnt about levers and linkages and used their skills to design and create their own that they then gave to their families at the end of term. 

Autumn 1 - We Can Change the World!

We began Year 3 by thinking about who our heroes are and what makes someone a hero. We then created a presentation about our heroes and dressed as them whilst sharing our presentation with the class. We then began to look at various people and how they have changed the world. We learnt about slavery and about Harriett Tubman who led other slaves to freedom using the Underground Railroad. We also learnt about Rosa Parks how her actions lead to the Bus boycott in the USA, which lead to a lot less segregation in the country. We then looked how woman was treated differently year ago, we learnt all about the suffragette movement and the impact that Emeline Pankhurst and Emily Davison’s actions had on women’s right to vote. Once we had learnt about various people that had changed the world the children created a fact file all about their chosen person and presented it to the class.
