Year 5

Year 5

Welcome to Year 5's class page!

Your class teachers are Miss Penn and Mrs James and our LSA is Miss Glover.

PE is on Tuesdays  and Fridays please make sure you have suitable PE kit in school for these days.

Our Topic for this half term is 3rd Rock From the Sun!

Please bring book bags and water bottles everyday.

Spellings

Spellings are sent out weekly on www.spellingshed.com, check and practice them for our test every Friday! Spellings are also uploaded onto Seesaw every Monday morning. A paper copy of spellings are also given out every Friday.

Reading

You each have a reading book and reading diary. Please bring this in every day. We will change your reading books every Friday but we can change them sooner if needed. We will be giving 2 Dojos every time your book is signed and returned to say you have read to an adult! You can also access Bug Club at home where you can listen to and read books.

Remember every time you have a comment in your reading diary from an adult you will get a sticker on your reading chart. You will get a certificate when you reach 5,10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 50 stickers!

If you have any problems or questions, please get in touch via the Seesaw app and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks

Miss Penn and Mrs James

If you are looking for more books to read, the Oxford Owl website (https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/) has a FREE library of online, ebooks sorted by age or book band colour so you can find something that suits you. It is free and easy to register, just ask an adult to help you.

Spellings

Don't forget to practise your spellings every week, you will have a spelling test every Friday.

Find the meanings of the words, put them into sentences.

You could practise them in a fun way - rainbow writing, write with your 'wrong hand', pyramid writing, chalk them on the pavement, make a word search with them or bubble writing. What other fun ways could you practise them?

Spellings are added onto Spelling Shed and Seesaw each week.
