PYB Time Credits

What are Time Credits?

Time Credits work very simply: for each hour that an individual contributes to the school community they could earn a Time Credit.

How can you earn Time Credits at Pen y Bryn?

Friends of Pen y Bryn

We will be offering Time Credits for those who are part of the Friends of Pen y Bryn group. 3 Time Credits will be earned for attending 6 planning meetings and 3 follow up events – this includes the setting up and running the event e.g. school disco, school Fayre.

Existing Friends of Pen y Bryn members can also earn time credits by acting as a buddy to new members and increasing the friends of Pen y Bryn group.

Family Fridays

Some Family Friday’s will have time credits attached but these will be specific targeted activities linked to supporting the children’s learning. The sessions where time credits are available to earn will be shown on the Family Fridays rota.

BEAR club (Be Eager And Read)

At Pen y Bryn this year we are focussing on reading. We will be offering a Be Eager and Read (BEAR) club for reception to foster a love of reading and provide support parents to help their children love to read. Parents will be able to gain 3 time credits for attending 6 sessions – this works out as 1 time credit for every 2 sessions attended. It is a hands on interactive club where you can have fun together and learn with your child.

Baby and Toddler Group

Another way to earn some time credits is by volunteering in our baby and Toddler group on a Friday from 9 am until 10:30 am term time only. 2 time credits per half term will be offered to any parent or carer who is interested

All time credits will be awarded per family.

What can you do with a Time Credit?

Time Credits can be spent accessing an hour of activity provided by one of Tempo’s corporate and community partners, for example:

Jump

Go Air

Millennium Centre tickets

Better Gym at Penylan.

Also Time Credits can be spent in school. For example 1 Time Credit could be used to see Father Christmas at the Christmas Fayre, or entry into the school disco.

Time Credits are a way of rewarding you for giving up your time by helping the children and the school. Time credits can be spent on yourself and not the children - a little bit of a time for you.
